Okay, I don't want to get anyone too excited.
A couple of weeks ago, GQ had a little sit down with Will Arnett. That sounds fun already, but Mr. Arnett happened to mention that there will definitely be an "Arrested Development" movie (eventually)!
While there is no time table for the project, we do know that Mitch Hurwitz is working on a script and that all of the original cast members are good to go!
The whole story is here at GQ's website.
And this is one of my favorite scenes from the series.

(GUEST POST) Just One More Mel Gibson Joke
By Karlee Johnson (@KarleeJohnson)
Good evening to you, one and all! I'll be one of Kristal's minions keeping an eye on things while she's away. For tonight's entertainment, I thought I'd share a video I came across on the interwebs. I was, like many people, ready to let go of the frightening but highly amusing Mel Gibson telephone recordings. This video was far too good to pass up though.

Riding Along in my Automobile
I've mentioned here before about my recent unemployment. Well, since the boyfriend and I are unemployed at the same time, we've decided to take a little vacation and road trip across America! For a month! This song will be our personal theme song:
Rest assured, there will still be posts going up here, since I recruited a few of my smart, pop culture oriented friends to take the reigns in my absence. They'll be keeping the Music Mondays alive, and maybe even the So You Think You Can Dance stuff. If I find myself with heaps of downtime on the road, who knows, maybe I'll post something too.
Interested in hearing more about my road trip? Well, of course we're blogging it! You can follow along, send us recommendations and local information, or anything else you can think of at our Road Trip Blog - KT & Kristal Do America! at http://americaeffyeah.blogspot.com. Also be sure to follow me on twitter at @kristal_bailey. The boyfriend is on twitter too at @tayke2. We'll be needing all the help we can get about local cuisine and highlights.
In the mean time, keep checking here for all the interesting things my friends will post!

The LXD: Chapters Six and Seven
Chapter Six
Chapter Seven
The chapters with the Dark Doctor (Chapters 3 and 7) so far have been my favorite. The dancing in all chapters has been amazing, but those chapters in particular stand out for being able to blend the dancing and the storytelling beautifully.

Comic-Con: Video of Panel Highlights
This is the last of the Comic-Con coverage! Not necessarily because I have nothing left to say, but because I'm leaving in the morning. Comic-Con coverage is still going up all over the web, so if you missed it be sure to search around as more of the exclusive videos become available online.
I already posted about the panels KT and I were able to get in for, but below is a video of a few highlights from the Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, Priest, The Other Guys, The Green Hornet, and Chuck panels. The videos were too short to merit putting up seperately, so KT edited them together in to one 6 minute video. Watch it below!

Sucker Punch: Comic-Con Trailer
While I missed the panel for Sucker Punch, I did hear it was the unexpected belle of the ball of the Warner Bros. Panel last Saturday morning. Fans camped out for glimpses of the Harry Potter cast or scoop on the new Green Lantern flick, but they were sorely disappointed when only Tom Felton could make it from the cast. Even the Green Lantern footage was lack luster since they are still shooting and couldn't show him in the suit yet. But, while those disappointed, Sucker Punch rose to the occasion and kicked the whole panel up a notch. Now the footage show there is available online, watch the trailer below:
Are you as excited for this as I am? Granted, Zach Snyder overdoses his audience on slow-mo, but otherwise he knows how to tell a story with a healthy helping of action.

(Delayed) Music Monday: Game On from The Guild
Ack! I missed Music Monday again! I was so busy catching up with Comic-Con stuff, it completely slipped my mind. Buuuut, because I waited now I can post The Guild's new music video that just came out today. Watch their follow up to "Date My Avatar" below:

(GUEST POST) Comic-Con: It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia
By Kevin Taylor (@tayke2)
We ended the looonggg but awesome weekend with the Always Sunny panel, which was a great way for me to end it because it is easily one of my favorite shows. The whole cast was there, which is Charlie Day, Kaitlin Olsen (who must be at least 7 months preggers), Glenn Howerton, Rob McElhenney, Danny Devito, and Mary Elizabeth Ellis. They were also joined by David Hornsby, who plays Rickety Cricket. He was in the crowd, but was convinced by the crows chanting his name to come up to the panel. They started off by showing us an episode from the upcoming season which starts in September. It was “Who Got Dee Pregnant?” and it was about the gang piecing together the night of Halloween, where Dee says one of them got her pregnant. I won’t spoil anything, but I will say that I’m very excited for the upcoming season. The highlights of the Q&A were Charlie and Dennis singing the Nightman song. They also hinted that they would love to have Dolph Lundgren guest star, which would be pretty awesome, especially since it's filmed in the city where Rocky was. It was Always Sunny’s first time at Comic Con, and I can say that based on the crowd reception they got that they will probably come back, or at least I hope. It really is one of the best written and acted shows on TV, and it says a lot because it is just the 5 main actors going through their daily lives and it never gets old to me.

Comic-Con: Saturday Wrap Up Part 2
After Trailer Park, they didn't turn on the lights much so I couldn't take notes. Below are all the videos from Saturday I was able to take.
Paul Panel
Cowboys & Aliens Panel
We got to see a clip from the film and it really got me interested in this movie! A blending of western and sci-fi, it manages to have the gritty old west work while simultaneously bringing in an alien invasion. With an all star cast of Harrison Ford, Daniel Craig, and Sam Rockwell, this could be the best movie of 2011.

Comic-Con: Saturday Wrap Up Part 1
Saturday is traditionally the biggest and busiest day of Comic-Con and this year was no exception. People started lining up for The Green Lantern, Sucker Punch, Harry Potter panel at 9pm the night before! My friends got in line at 8am for the 11:45 Warner Bros. Panel and were among the last to be let in! KT and I decided to skip that madness for the still passionate, slightly smaller Chuck panel.
Chuck Panel
SPOILERS AHEAD. You've been warned. The panel opened up with an awesome highlight reel made just for the event that had the best moments of the past 3 seasons and revealed a huge spoiler for next season. Last seasoned ended with Chuck finding out his mother was in the spy business too; his mother will be played by (drumroll please!) Linda Hamilton! Famous mother of John Connor, she epitomizes a kick-ass, badass mom - perfect for Chuck! She actually heard the rumors on the fan boards that she would be the mother and thought that sounded like fun. When they approached her about it, she was kind of already on board. The search for his mom is going to be a huge part of Season 4, along with trying to get Team Bartowski back together now that Chuck has quit the CIA but remained a spy of sorts. An interesting tidbit is that while the Buy More blew up, it will be back as a completely CIA owned and operated front. There will be "Greta" - a CIA/Green Shirt at the Buy More that will be played by a new actor every week. Olivia Munn will be first, then Isiah Mustafa (Old Spice Guy), and more.
They all love working on the show and the support of the fans. Unforetunately between the video opener and the delayed start, there wasn't much time for them to talk and no time at all for fan Q&As. Even so, the panel was one of my favorite from the weekend. And it was made even better by the Chuck Tweet Up the night before, where I got to chat with other Chuck fans and the cast even made a surprise appearance! I'll post pictures later, once I find my camera cord.
Let Me In Panel
A remake of the recent Swedish film Let the Right One In, the footage looked promising but the fans didn't seem to keen on an American remake of such a recent film. The director was coming to the project as a fan of the original film and wanted to keep the tone the same - a coming of age story that also happens to be a vampire movie. I couldn't take many notes since they didn't turn up the lights, but below is the flipcam video I took:

They showed nearly all trailers I had already seen, but there was one that stood out from the rest.

Comic-Con: Friday Wrap Up
Friday was supposed to be my day in Ballroom 20, but I waited until 11am to line for the 2pm Bones panel, which proved to be a huge mistake. Due to the popularity of True Blood, the room closed and the weren't allowing a line to form because no one was leaving the room between panels. The True Blood panel was at 5pm, so pretty everything before it closed off to those fans because of the fanatical passion of those waiting to see Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer. Oh well, a lesson learned. Instead of listening to the panels for Bones, The Joss Whedon Experience, and The Girls Who Kick Butt, I headed to the Scott Pilgrim Experience and Hall H for the movie panels.
The Scott Pilgrim Experience
This was the first year I ventured outside of the convention center to see what the studios had set up in the Gaslamp Quarter. While there was Dexter: Game On and Britt's Garage for The Green Hornet, I only experienced Scott Pilgrim. After being in line and enjoying all the free garlic bread I could handle, were finally let in. I got to custom make a t-shirt, and actually have it fit me! They also had booths set up for people to play the upcoming video game, create flip-books from 7 seconds of anything they wanted to do in front of the Scott Pilgrim backdrop, and get select cast members/creators to sign posters. If you followed along on twitter, you could know who was going to be there. Unfortunately, I didn't get to see the cast or the battle of bands performance, but Bryan Lee O'Malley was on hand to talk about the graphic novel and sign copies of the books or posters.
Don't Be Afraid of the Dark Panel
I wasn't here for the movie, it was just convenient for me to stay in Hall H and wait for the next panel for Priest, The Other Guys, and The Green Hornet. I'm not much for scary movies and the clips they showed for this were terrifying! Sarah and I literally shrieked during the first teaser. Even though I have no interest to see the film because of my horror flick preferences, it was very interesting to listen to Guillermo Del Toro speak about it and film in general. He saw the original made-for-TV movie as a kid and it was the scariest movie he had ever seen for a very long time. In 1998 he wrote the screenplay about an ancient chimney with an ashpit that has scary creatures from the bottom of the earth inside. They take children to the darkness and replace them with fake stand ins. It's a mix of fairy-tales and horror. He wanted to make a horror film because in American cinema, the horror film has become entangled with comedy and he wanted to make a movie as "serious as an attack of fucking gonorrhea." He doesn't like Postmodern horror films because there's no respect for the material; it feels like the films are saying you're smarter than the material is.
Del Toro is also venturing into Cable TV horror, doing an anthology series that would rely on shock and power, not gore. If The Walking Dead on AMC finds success, it will open the doors for more horror on television. On his list of projects he'd love to work on, he wants to do a serious take on a masked wrestler vs. vampires. He wants to bring in more Mexican legends and do his version of Frankenstein, he just needs to find the time do everything he would like. He confirmed that he is developing a twisted, stop-motion version of the original story of Pinocchio, not the Disney version. He is working with Disney on a new Haunted Mansion movie. It would be a giant love letter to the ride, since he's been in love with the experience since he went on it for the first time when he was 4. Hopefully it can wash the Eddie Murphy film from our brains.
Stay tuned for KT's post on the Sony Panel with Priest, The Other Guys, and The Green Hornet.

(GUEST POST) Comic-Con: Animation Domination Panels
By Kevin Taylor (@tayke2)
Family Guy Panel
The first part of the animation domination portion of the TV panels, the Family Guy panel was very entertaining. They started off showing 9 minutes of their straight to DVD release of their “Return of the Jedi” spoof coming out in December. It looks pretty hilarious and something I’ll definitely wanna check out. The panel included a few of the writers/producers, and some actors: Seth Macfarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, and Patrick Warburton. The highlight of the Q&A was Warburton sharing a story of losing a golf bet with his friend and having to eat a brand of dog food that was later linked to mad cow disease, so he’s worried that he could die at any minute. Other then that, there wasn’t a whole lot of great stuff, except for Macfarline singing the “Down Syndrome Girl” song at the podium. That was pretty cool.
The Cleveland Show Panel
I only saw this panel cause it was between Family Guy and Futurama. I really had no desire to see any of this, and when they showed a 6 minute package real of the 2nd season, I did my best to not laugh at anything out of principle. I only laughed once and it was when they were on a plane to Africa. When Cleveland Jr. walked by, Cleveland said “Hey Junior, You know we are going to see our ancestry and where you came from.” And Junior responded, “no way dad I thought I was fucking Scottish.” After that, the panel, including Macfarlane, Jamie Kennedy, Mike Henry, Sanaa Lathan, Kevin Michael Richardson, and a few of the writers, did a script reading of a scene shot at Comic Con that was ok. Overall, a panel to forget for a show to forget.
Futurama Panel
The creators of the show, Matt Groening and David X Cohen were there, along with most of the cast, including Billy West, who voices Fry, the Doctor, and several others, Katey Sagal, who voices Leela, John Dimaggio, Bender, Maurice LaMarche, and Phil Lamarr, who voices Hermes. They showed a scene from Comic Con that they animated, which I thought was funny cause it basically made Cleveland Show look lazy. They also did a table reading themselves of a show that will air next summer, and the creators confessed that this upcoming episode is probably their favorite one they’ve created.

(GUEST POST) Comic-Con: Expendables, Skyline, and Super
By Kevin Taylor (@tayke2)
Expendables Panel
Probably the most pleasant surprise for me for the whole trip to be honest, and that was due mostly to the fact that I’m a guy. This movie is essentially action porn. It’s the biggest action stars of all time all on one screen and it looks just as bad ass as it sounds. The panel had Terry Crews, who got the adrenalin flowing early when he took his shirt off and flexed his pecks like in his old spice commercials. After him Stone Cold Steven Austin came out, sadly not to his iconic wrestling intro music. Following him were Dolph Lundgren, Sly Stallone, and Randy Catoure. You could have filled a sick panel with those who WEREN’T there, which included Jet Li, Jason Staham, Mickey Rourke, and the Governator.
The clip they showed was the “tunnel fight” and it was basically a bunch of bad ass kills. They included an awesome broken arm shot, a broken leg, and probably my favorite, a shot where Jason Staham breaks out of a hold by shooting his opponent in the ankle, then the head as he falls down. When they are in trouble, Terry Crews saves the day by destroying bad guys with a gun that Stallone says cuts people into pieces in real life.
This truly is a bad ass action movie. All the big guys did their own stunts, which led to a lot of injuries, including Austin breaking Stallone’s neck, loosening 3 bone spurs in it. The movie had to be shot in Brazil, because a lot of the explosions and fire power they used are illegal in the United States. Crews also commented how surprised he was that the explosions were real and realllllly powerful. Overall, it’s a movie that I’m very excited for. Not one girl will like it I’m sure, but if you are a guy, you will love it.
Some flipcam videos from the panel are below. Sorry for the poor quality, but those are the closest seats I could get:
Skyline Panel
I had not heard a single thing about this movie before this panel, and I have to say that it does look pretty interesting and might be something I check out when it comes. The movie was independently made on an extreme short budget. It is directed by Colin and Greg Strause, and the majority of the film was shot in their apartment. The story is that of an alien abduction rather then an alien invasion or extermination. The panel was Eric Balfour, Donald Faison, David Zayas, Scottie Thompson, and Brittany Daniel.
They showed the first trailer and a 2 minute scene. The movie reminds me a lot of Cloverfield, except that its not shot on handheld its actually a good camera. They said that because its an independent production that there were only about 5 decision makers on the set per day, as opposed to the standard 20 at the bear minimum. The scene was of Balfour and Faison on the roof looking at the alien abductions for the first time. It was funny because Faison said that because they shot it in their apartment that they had to be quiet as to not have the neighbors file a noise complaint. This of course was tough to do with the world being abducted around them.
Overall it seems like a pretty cool concept and it certainly looks like they did a pretty good job especially considering their extremely short budget. I would say wait for the reviews and if it gets good reviews then check it out because it certainly looks like it has promise.
Super Panel
This was once again a movie that I hadn’t heard any of and once again a pretty good surprise for me. This movie was shot on an extremely short budget as well, yet it had a star studded cast, most of whom were at the panel. James Gunn is the director, and he has with him Rainn Wilson, Ellen Page, Liv Tyler, and Nathan Fillion. The story of the movie is an average every day guy, Wilson, who’s wife, Tyler, leaves him for Kevin Bacon’s character. Tired of being run over by people, he creates an alter ego that is a vigilante hero, very much along the lines of Kick Ass. When Page’s character sees him in action, she volunteers to join, even though she is extremely uncoordinated and all together not very useful.
The movie looks like it has a lot of funny moments. In one scene, a guy cuts into line for a movie, and when Wilson complains to no avail, he changes into his super hero outfit and proceeds to split his head open with a wrench. The movie is scheduled to come out later this year, and certainly seems promising. As I said before, it sounds like a more comical less action version of Kick Ass, which is a great sign since that movie was so great.

Comic-Con: Thursday Wrap Up
Comic-Con is the only place where I can make an obscure pop culture reference and expect everyone within earshot to get it. It's one of my favorite times of year and I definitely plan on going again and again for as long as I can afford (and maybe even some where I can't!). Growing up as a geeky teen girl, my first Comic-Con when I was 17 was eye-opening. It was the first time I realized just how many people out there are as passionate and obsessive about sci-fi/fantasty/superheroes as I am. So, as you can imagine, I'm very excited to share my experience here on my blog! Kevin and I will be posting about nearly all the panels we were able to attend, so keep checking the blog today and tomorrow for updates. I wanted to post earlier, but the wireless situation in San Diego was not the best.
Salt & Battle: Los Angeles Panel
My interest in Salt surrounds the fact that Angelina Jolie took over the role after Tom Cruise backed out. This change was a big learning process to the writers. They were surprised by how much it changed how all the characters relate to her. This one change had a snowball effect that slightly shifted every character in the film. Even with the change, expectations for the film and character are the same. It's not the "what" that changed, it was the "how." Angelina Jolie was on stage to discuss the role, but many of the questions centered on her method acting and were a bit repetitive. It was interesting to learn that she performed all of her stunts. The stunts were grounded in reality and had to be pratical and feasible, since this is an action film based in reality instead of inspired by a video game or graphic novel.
I hadn't heard of Battle: Los Angeles before this weekend, but was impressed with the viral marketing campaign (ReportThreats.org) throughout the weekend and the footage shown during the panel. Inspired by a mysterious event in Los Angeles, back in 1942 where the military shot hundreds of rounds on an unknown aircraft that didn't seem to suffer any damage. It then flew off and was never explained. The film takes these events as alien reconnaissance missions, and in 2011 the aliens come back to take over Earth. Instead of following a general citizen, it blends the war and sci-fi tropes by following an elite marine troop while they battle their way through Los Angeles in an effort to save the world.
Summit: RED Panel
RED was the highlight of Thursday for me. I had not heard of it before, despite having an A-list cast of Helen Mirren, Bruce Willis, Karl Urban, Mary Louis-Parker, who were all in attendance for the panel. Also in the film are Morgan Freeman and John Malkovich. Based on a DC series, Retired Extremely Dangerous aka RED follows CIA operatives that know to much to simply retire. With the government they served after them, they'll prove that they're not too old to kick some butt. While the movie is a fun, action/adventure film, it stays grounded thanks to the fantastic performances from the cast.
Fans of the graphic novel can rest assured that they stay true to the character of Frank. They took the character and just placed him into a broader environment with a lighter, punchier tone so it will work in the film medium. The character is what sold the studio on the project. The writer was available, but he saw it more as a translation of the story, not a dictation of the graphic novel to the screen.
We saw the world premiere of the full length trailer, which is embedded below. Catch the flick in theaters October 15!
The Visionaries: Joss Whedon & JJ Abrams Panel
The geek gods of Buffy and Lost in the same room together! The biggest announcement was the confirmation that Joss Whedon will be directing The Avengers. While they haven't worked together, but they have known each other since the days of The WB where they both worked on Felicity and Buffy, respectively. They talked about everything from film memorabilia to 3D. While the fans cheered at the announcement that Super 8 won't be 3D, Joss loves it. He loves that it puts you in the space of the film, and adds just a little something to the viewing experience. There are definitely movies that don't need it, but when it is suited for it, it's great. It's not a fad, but it won't take over the film medium entirely. There's no audience to see a period drama in 3D, for example.
Joss also talked about Dr. Horrible and his desire to make a sequel. He proved that the internet could be profitable, just not at the same scale as film/television. He's too busy to work on the sequel now, since The Avengers is about to start up, but he and Jed Whedon have talked about some ideas. In addition to taking a break from Dr. Horrible, he's taking a break from television. He learned his lesson with Dollhouse. He was trying to fit a square peg (creative, serialized storytelling) into a round hole (broadcast television). FOX is incapable of letting him roam free creatively, like The WB did with Buffy, so now he knows if/when he returns to TV he fits within the cable mentality.
JJ did reveal that Bad Robot is trying to get in to web content creation, but didn't give details on the project. Whatever they release, I'll be very interested to check out given the Bad Robot track record. One fan question was if he was happy with the Lost ending, given that he created the show and still had input on the direction until he gave complete control over to Darlton for Season 6. He and Damion Lindleof made a Bible in the beginning of what they wanted to address in the show, but things change in television. You have to adapt when you come across great actors, like Michael Emerson, or have a great new idea. You need to listen to the show and be flexible. All that said, he did love the finale and the emotional satisfaction for the characters it provided.
Scott Pilgrim vs. The World Panel
While the panel featured nearly everyone involved in the project, and even some who weren't, it ultimately proved a bit disappointing for me. With Edgar Wright (Director), Bryan O'Malley (Creator), and all the actors on stage, I expected more discussion, but it was really just a series of clips highlighting each character and then the reveal that select members of the audience were going to see the movie RIGHT NOW! Since I was not one of the lucky winners of that, the panel didn't add much knowledge to the project than I already knew. It was nice to see Michael Cera dressed as Captain America and Simon Pegg and Nick Frost surprise the audience though.
That covers my Thursday! Are you excited for any of these projects in particular? Stay tuned for more from Comic-Con info from me and KT soon.

At Comic-Con, The Wireless Will Let You Down
Sorry for the lack of blogposting for the past few days! Comic-Con has been crazy busy with just so much going on and so many things to see. I plan on blogging it all and will be posting all the flipcam videos I recorded once I get back to LA where there's reliable wifi. So please stay tuned! In the mean time, I hope you've been checking out my twitter feed for updates from the Con. Expect some great updates tonight/tomorrow!

Buried: Theatrical Trailer
I'm very intrigued to see how this works as a two hour film. It's a one man show of Ryan Reynolds inside a coffin and I wonder if he can pull that off.

So You Think You Can Dance: Top 6
This week the Top 6 dancers battle it out to make it to the Top 5. But another dancer is sidelined due to injury - Billy Bell is sitting tonight's performances out. In celebration of tonight's 150th episode, there's an extra judge sitting on the panel: Dancer/Choreographer/Producer/Director extraordinaire Kenny Ortega. You might not know his name, but you definitely know his work - The High School Musical Series, choreographed Michael Jackson's This is It, directed Gilmore Girls, and more.
While it's bad news for Billy, there is some good news for the show: an Emmy win for Costume Design!
Lauren with All Star tWitch
NappyTabs Hip Hop
"My Chick Bad" by Ludacris & Nicki Minaj
The story behind the dance is a showdown in the Wild West, with Lauren being the last chick standing. It was a fun routine that Lauren pulled off way better than I thought she would! She's normally the cute, innocent girl but she pulled out the big guns and got BAD. There were some great moves like when tWitch used Lauren as a gun, when he swung her down and she smoothly went into crazy back-bending tumbles.
Jose with All Star Allison
Sonya Tayeh Contemporary
"Eternal Sunshin of a Spotless Mind Theme" by Jon Brion
The story of the routine is about a couple that meets, falls in love, but in the end they fall apart. It tracks the different levels in the life of a relationship. While I liked the symbolism of the edge of the stage being the risk you put yourself in when you give your heart to someone else, overall I found the dance to be boring. The dance moves weren't very challenging, there wasn't enough movement for me to even take note of the quality of movements. The emotion, story, and concept were great, but that's not going to be enough to get people to pick up the phone to vote.
Robert with All Star Lauren
Tyce DiOrio Jazz
"Wasted Time" by My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult
There's no story here, just the dance of seduction and sexiness. This is not hard to do when the dancers are as hot as Robert and Lauren. The moment where he runs his mouth down her leg - WOWZA!
Solo: Adechike
"This Woman's Work" by Maxwell
Is he wearing Jeggings (Jean-like leggings)?! For that, he gets negative points.
Kent with All Star Kathryn
Sonya Tayeh Jazz
"Tightrope" by Janelle Monae
That was such a fun routine! They geniunely looked to be enjoying themselves and danced their butts off. The handspring over Kathryn was impressive, as were all his flips and jumps tonight. Nigel thinks he's outdanced his All Star partners the past two weeks, and while he's a strong dancer, I wouldn't go that far.
P.S. the song choice was spot on - go download it from iTunes now.
Solo: Robert
"Parachutes" by Trevor Hall
Solo: Lauren
"The Waves" by Elisa
The class of small children wishing her luck and sending their love was ADORABLE. While her solo was strong and was worthy of "fight for your life" levels, those kids stole the show for me.
Adechike with All Star Comfort
NappyTabs Lyrical Hip Hop
"Fallin'" by Alicia Keys
That was the best routine yet tonight! They both completely sold the emotion and the tumultuous relationship. Their movements were grounded and hard hitting, but it was their facial expressions and characters that made it come alive. That was amazing, definitely on the same level as "No Air" and "Bleeding Love" from Season Four, if not even better!
Solo: Jose
"Give It Up or Turnit A Loose" by James Brown
Solo: Kent
"End of the Road (A Cappella)" by Boyz II Men
Robert & Lauren
Demitri Chaplin Samba
"Drummer Boy (SYTYCD Remix)" by Debi Nova
They pulled off the flirtatious and fun vibe so well. They did a solid job of the choreography as well, which is incredible given both their contemporary dancers. After tonight, I think Robert could partner with an orange and make it work. He just has such chemistry and plays off his partner so well.
Adechike & Jose
Demitri Chaplin (w/ Legacy assiting) Paso Doble
"The Arrival/Rampage/Contiend Existance" by James Dooley
This is the first male partnering of the Paso Doble on the show. Usually the Paso Doble is a man dancing with his cape, the girl. But this routine had to be changed to be two matadors fighting to cater to the two men. During the routine, you could definitely tell that Jose did not have as much dance training as Adechike. As much as I like him, this may be his week to go if Billy is healed. The critiques for this were lacking on why this routine exactly was "lacking." I hate to say it, but in times like these we need Mary Murphy! She is the resident ballroom expert. Where is she? I know she was replaced as a permanent judge by Mia, but it was reported that she would still guest judge and choreograph. We're more than halfway through the season and there's been no trace of her.
Kent & Billy (replaced by tWitch)
Chuck Maldonado Stepping
"Pro Nails (Rusko Remix)" by Kid Sister
I think they were together during the a cappela portion of the routine? It was really hard to hear over the constant scream of the crowd of young girls. I thought he managed to stay afloat, but definitely wasn't as in love with it as the judges.
Favorite Routine: The lyrical hip hop routine with Adechike and Comfort was the best lyrical hip hop routine I've seen on the show since Season 4.
Bottom Three Prediction: If Billy can compete tomorrow, I think Jose will be going home. It's just becoming more and more obvious that he needs more training to be at the same level as the remaining contestants. Personality and charm can only get you so far! And if Billy is still injured, then we all know how that will play out.
What was your favorite routine of the night? Did you love "Fallin" as much as I did?

The LXD: Chapters Four and Five
The next two installments of the epic dance series LXD have arrived today! While I don't think they're as strong as the last installment with Madd Chadd, they both have great dance sequences that slowly move the story forward.
The Madd Chadd episode was so great because it didn't waste time on exposition or bother with dialogue. I'm sure the majority of the viewers care about the dance routines more than the plot and that episode found a way to seamlessly integrate it better than any of the other chapters. I posted Chapter Three earlier, so be sure to watch it before moving on to Chapters Four and Five, which are posted below.
Chapter Four:
Chapter Five:
Chapter Four's b-boy battle was epic, but the lighting distracted me and made it hard for me to focus on their dance movements. What has been your favorite chapter of the LXD journey so far?

Comic-Con has arrived!
Today is the first day of Comic-Con, with preview night. The lucky few who scored tickets will get to watch sneak peeks of upcoming television shows, movies, and any other comic-book related things. While I'll be a Comic-Con all weekend, I missed out on the preview night ticket. I'm sure there will be lots of updates on twitter and a slew of entertainment blogs to make up for it though!
Below is my dream schedule. I doubt I'll be able to get in to all these panels, but hopefully I can get in to the majority of them. I'll be blogging and tweeting while in San Diego, so stay tuned here and to @kristal_bailey for updates!
Thursday, July 22
11am - TRON Legacy (Hall H). Expecting a lot of sneak footage in 3D!
3:30pm - Entertainment Weekly: The Visionaries (Hall H). Panel with geek gods J.J. Abrams and Joss Whedon.
6pm - Universal: Scott Pilgrim vs. the World (Hall H). This is my most anticipated film left in summer! They're also having the Scott Pilgrim Experience all weekend, where select cast and crew will be signing t-shirts.
Friday, July 23
11:30am - Caprica (Ballroom 20). This smart Syfy show is returning in January 2011 and they'll be premiering the trailer along with other new information.
12:45pm - The Big Bang Theory (Ballroom 20). Sheldon. Enough said.
2pm - Bones (Ballroom 20). With filming starting this week, there won't be much new footage, but there will hopefully be some good scoops on what's going on next season and just how everyone reunites after their years abroad.
3pm - The Joss Whedon Experience (Ballroom 20).
4pm - Entertainment Weekly: Girls Who Kick Ass: A New Generation of Heroines (Ballroom 20). Television is the medium of strong female characters!
6:30pm TV Guide Magazine: The 2010 Hot List (Ballroom 20). Chuck's Zachery Levi will be there, and that's all I need to know.
Saturday, July 24
This is the hardest day for me. Saturday is always packed with the best panels, but this year it's like Sophie's Choice! Do I go to the Chuck panel and miss out on the WB Green Lantern/Harry Potter presentation? Do I check out the new show No Ordinary Family or a surprise favorite of mine The Vampire Diaries? And if I do see TVD, would I be able to make it into Hall H in time to see the Marvel presentation? My life is so hard! (ha!) Well, below are a bunch of panels I'd like to see. In reality, I'll probably only make it to half, if even that.
10am - Chuck Screening & Q&A (Ballroom 20).
11:45am - Warner Bros.: Green Lantern, Sucker Punch, and Harry Potter (Hall H).
12:45pm - Futurama (Ballroom 20).
2:30pm - V Screening & Q&A (Ballroom 20).
3:15pm - No Ordinary Family (Room 6A).
4:15pm - The Vampire Diares Screening and Q&A (Ballroom 20).
6pm - Marvel Studios: Thor & Captain America: The First Avenger (Hall H).
7:15pm - Kevin Smith (Hall H).
Sunday, July 25
1:30pm - Glee (Ballroom 20). While Lea Michele, Cory Monmeith, and Matthew Morrison won't be there, the rest of the cast should be. I'm hoping next season can go back to the glory of the first 13 and this will be the first hint if it's possible.
2:45pm - X: Sons of Anarchy and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (Ballroom 20).
Also, while all this is going on, there is so much going on the main floor with all the booths and free swag. It's going to be a busy four days, but I'm so ready!
Will any of you be at Comic-Con too? Better yet, planning to go to any of these same panels?
Below is my dream schedule. I doubt I'll be able to get in to all these panels, but hopefully I can get in to the majority of them. I'll be blogging and tweeting while in San Diego, so stay tuned here and to @kristal_bailey for updates!

(Delayed) Music Monday: Chomp & Change by The Black Keys
Sorry for missing this week's Music Monday! Here's a late one to make up for it. Between getting ready for Comic Con, preparing for the road trip, and being newly unemployed, I kind of lost track of time!
This is definitely my favorite song off the Twilight Eclipse soundtrack. It's bluesy sound doesn't fit with the other tracks, which makes me love it even more everytime it comes up when I'm listening to the soundtrack.

Seinfield: The Crime Thriller
It's amazing what someone can create from a few scenes and dialogue. Using footage from the 10 years of Seinfield, "lorocker" created a trailer for a pretty intriguing "Serenity Now" Crime Thriller feature.

Your Mind is the Scene of the Crime: Brief Thoughts on Inception
Leonardo DiCaprio knows how to pick his roles! It's one thing to be a great actor, but another thing to pick projects that not only showcase your skills but also are quality films. Whoever is picking his gigs deserves a raise, because his filmography is nearly flawless (Producer credit on Orphan, really?!).
Inception is a mind-bending twisty film that tackles some lofty ideas. It's similar to The Matrix in that it makes you question reality after viewing. Is this the real world? Or we all just dreaming?
It's hard to detail out the plot because the storyline itself is a maze that the viewer must navigate. We are thrown into this world where dreams can be infiltrated and get the details of the how and why one note at a time, through the new architect's introduction to the job. This is a film where there is no good time to dash out to the bathroom, lest you miss a crucial tidbit of information on how everything is falling into place.
Christopher Nolan has become a brand in himself, which I don't think many directors have been able to do since the glory days of George Lucas and Steven Speilberg. The only other director who is instantly recognizable today for his style and writing credit is M. Night Shyamalan. However, for M Night, his brand is seen as a negative now thanks to a steady decline in the quality and reception of his work.
Are these really the only 2 directors who are branded?

Dora The Explorer: Incepción Trailer
Can you say BURRRRRRR?
This mash-up is cute and funny. The little girl playing Dora is a good look a like to the cartoon and gets the tone and questioning down perfectly!
While great, I still don't think anything beats the SNL spoof "Maraka" on TV Funhouse.

Ferris Club
Some imaginings of Ferris Bueller's Day Off have it as Cameron's sad life leads him to create Ferris Bueller. Now, there's a trailer for that movie. Watch it below:
While an interesting re-imagining, Ferris Bueller is one of my favorite 80s teen flicks and I hate to see Cameron in such a negative light. What do you guys think of this trailer?

The Social Network: First Full Trailer
While this is the same dialogue we've heard in the previous teaser trailers, we finally get to see footage from the film and a bit of context. The cast looks great and that cover of "Creep" by Radiohead is haunting, setting the tone for the film.

So You Think You Can Dance: Fix You

So You Think You Can Dance: Top 7
After Alex's heartbreaking departure, it looks like we have another injury this week. Ashley had to sit out this week and may be out of the competition with a potentially broken rib.
Lauren with All Star Mark
Tiana Liufau Tahitian
"Jungle" by Last Voices
The dance represents the night in the day. They flirt and court each other and then them come together to make the first full day.
That reminded me of Hawaiian and Samoan dances I had seen before, which I guess makes sense given they're all island cultures. That must have been exhausting - their hips were moving the entire time. It really highlighted Lauren's butt and Mark's muscles, which I enjoyed. This was like nothing they had had on the show before, so the judges couldn't really critique it as well as other routines. I will say it was a lot of fun to watch and had great energy and storytelling.
Favorite quote: "It was like a duck in heat." - Mia
Adechike with All Star Anya
Liz Lira Salsa
"Oyelo Que Te Convien" by Eddie Palmieri
The first trick where Anya backbends and Adechike lifts her up again with his foot, and then she slowly went back down to the floor - that was oddly slowly. I guess that was intentional, but it seemed off to me. The choreography for this routine was insane - so many tricks and flips and lifts. It may have been a bit too difficult for Adechike to excel at. However, with all that said, that was a great effort and they came very closely to dancing it at the competition level it was meant for.
Jose with All Star Courtney
Joey Dawling Broadway
"Mister Cellophane" from Chicago (Motion Picture Soundtrack)
I love this song and number from the movie. This routine stripped Jose of his personality and overall was boring. There wasn't much to remember it and itself will be invisible once compared to the other routines from tonight. Jose gets by week after week on his heart and personality, this may be the week he's in the bottom three thanks to this routine.
Robert with All Star Allison
Travis Wall Contemporary
"Fix You" by Coldplay
This piece is for Travis's mom, who went through a major surgery recently. That was beautiful and emotional and just fantastic. Travis Wall is amazing. The story of helping out his mother was so touching and just perfectly imagined with all the lifts and the final moments where Robert lifted her feet with his. Not only was the choreography fantastic, but Robert was flawless with such lines and strength in every move. There is no way Robert is going home this week after this.
Billy with All Star Anya
Louis Van Amstel Jive
"Paradise by the Dashboard Light" by Meat Loaf
This is another competition level ballroom routine. That was a solid routine, with great partner work. For this routine, I wish Mary Murphy was on the judging panel to really let us know about how ballroom is supposed to look. None of the judges are ballroom experts and lack the vocabulary to fully talk about the dance without relying solely on their chemistry.
Kent with All Star Niel
Tyce DiOrio Broadway
"Shoeless Joe from Hannibal, Mo" from Damn Yankees
It's a baseball duo training with each other. It opned with a very athletic jump over Niel. Their flips were amazing and so high and in sync. That was a very fun routine with a lot of energy. They were in sync for every major trick and move. I'm loving the same-sex dances and am glad there are more of them this season than just the group dances and final four week.
Lauren & Billy
Mandy Moore Jazz
"Boogie Shoes" by KC & The Sunshine Band
The story is that their shoes meet up and take over and make them dance. The shoes are full of magic. It's a great commercial for converse. That was a cute routine and they both are very strong Jazz dancers.
Jose & Dominic
NappyTabs B-Boy
"Battle for the Beat" by District 78
This is the first breaking/b-boy routine ever on the show. It's a battle of East vs. West styles and the story itself was a battle over a sword. There were far too many tricks to point out all the ones that I liked. I will point out the same move as the slow-mo, when Jose was lifted so his chest and full body weight was being held up by Dominic's legs.
Adechike & Kent
Dee Caspury Contemporary
"You Only Disappear" by Tom McRae
In this Kent has a girlfriend that Adechike is trying to save him from and break them apart. Their lines and jumps are out of this world. There was one jump by Adechike, highlighted in slow motion, where it seemed like he defied gravity and just hung in the air far longer than should be humanly possible.
Robert & Ashley (All-Star Kathryn Substitute)
Doriana Sanchez Disco
"Instant Replay" by Dan Hartman
Wow, I'm exhausted after just watching that routine! There were so many tricks, I don't even know where to begin talking about this routine. Plus, Kathryn must have had to learn that in half the time as Robert, because of Ashley's injury, and that is why she's an All-Star. She was stellar!
Favorite Routine: Robert and Allison's Travis Wall Contemporary. That just had such emotion behind the flawless movements.
Bottom Three Prediction: Ashley is definitely in the bottom three because of injury. I think Robert and Billy will be joining her, even though Jose had the weakest dance of the night with his broadway number. I think he's too much of a fan favorite to be in the bottom.
What did you guys think? What was your favorite dance tonight?
Due Date: First Trailer
Directed by Todd Philips, starring Robert Downey Jr. and Zach Galifinakis.
Why is this not a summer release? For all intents and purposes, this is the sequel to the The Hangover. The humor and pacing seem much better suited for a summer release, yet this is hitting theaters in November.

The Expendables vs. Eat. Pray. Love.
This trailer just makes me want to see Eat. Pray. Love. Nearly every major summer movie is male-oriented and they are trying to make men feel like they've been ignored at the movies lately. Are you kidding me? What do you consider every superhero movie, Transformers, Die Hards, Robin Hood, The A-Team, Clash of the Titans, The Losers, The Last Airbender, Salt, Resident Evils (and the list goes on and on and on), they certainly aren't meant for the female crowd.
I know it's not meant to be taken seriously, it's not even an official trailer, but it still bothers me. I'm probably in the minority on this, but it makes me want to see Eat. Pray. Love. to spite it.
The Giving Tree's Sassy Gay Friend
The Sassy Gay Friend strikes again! Having previously helped Juliet and Ophelia, among others, and is moving outside the world of Shakespeare. I can't wait to see where he ends up next.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles
One of the many brilliant-but-canceled FOX television shows is Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles. If you're a fan of the movies at all, you'll enjoy this action-packed, tightly written show. I myself missed this show while it was on the air, but thankfully Netflix Watch Instantly has both seasons available.
I just started Season 2 and was blown away by this scene:
Now that Party Down isn't on Netflix Instant anymore, this gets my vote as the show to watch online.

Emmy Voters Love Glee
Glee, the freshman show that took the pop culture world by storm, has the Academy wrapped around its finger. While the first 13 episodes were solid and are completely worthy of the recognition, the majority of the back 9 fell so hard and so fast that I don't think it deserves NINETEEN nominations.
While nominated for lesser known categories like Art Direction, Hairstyling, Costumes, Make Up, and Casting, it got the big ticket nods as well.
Matthew Morrison was nominated for Best Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, against Alec Baldwin, Larry David, Tony Shalhoub, Jim Parsons and Steve Carell. Last year was supposed to be Jim Parson's year for The Big Bang Theory, but it went to Alec Baldwin again. I just don't think Matthew stands a chance against such comedy staples. They've had this category on lock and will continue to dominate, at least until Alec Baldwin retires in 2012.
Another major recognition is Lea Michele for Best Lead Actress. Lea's competition is nearly all previous winners - Julia Louise Dreyfus, Toni Colette, and Tina Fey. There's also another comedy favorite in the mix - Amy Poehler. They're all at an advantage since their shows are full comedies, unlike Glee which is a musical dramedy. Lea is the long shot. I think the statue will go to either newcomer Amy Poehler who is the focal point of Parks & Recreation, or make Toni Colette a repeat winner.
While I doubt Glee's chances in the major categories, they do have a good shot at winning Best Guest Actor and Best Guest Actress with television favorites like Niel Patrick Harris and Kristen Chenoweth.

So You Think You Can Dance: Collide
My favorite routine last night was the high school couple, danced by Kent and Lauren, set to Collide. It was a beautiful acoustic rendition that brought the right tone to the dance. They had such strong chemistry that the majority of new hits to my blog today come from the google search "Are Kent and Lauren from SYTYCD dating?" They were so believable that people sensed a real romantic connection between them. Watch the routine below:
