Music Monday: The End Of The World (Friend of the People Mixtape) by Lupe Fiasco
I posted the awesome M83 track "Midnight City" as a Music Monday song a few weeks ago, and now one of my favorite rappers has used that beat to lay down their rhymes. Two great things together, to make a really fantastic song.
Lupe Fiasco released a new mixtape recently and "The End Of The World" is a highlight! Listen to the song right here:

Music Monday: My Moon My Man by Feist
Last week I was lucky enough to catch Feist at The Wiltern for The Audio Perv. You can see my full review of the show there. While Feist just came out with a new album, Metals, I still prefer their older tracks - like My Moon My Man. Catch the song after the break.

Music Monday: Midnight City by M83
This may be in a Victoria Secret commercial, but it's still a pretty awesome song! Have you discovered any other great tracks from commercials and television?

Music Monday: Block after Block by Matt and Kim
With that extra hour of sleep, I've got a bit more bounce in my step this Monday morning! Listening to this upbeat tune from Matt & Kim certainly helps too.

Music Wednesday: I Believe in a Thing Called Love Cover by Panic! at the Disco
With all the Halloween excitement, I totally missed Music Monday! To remedy that, here's a sweet cover of The Darkness's "I Believe in a Thing Called Love" performed by Panic! at the Disco. While I haven't been keeping up to date on Panic!, I was a huge fan of theirs back in 2005 (to the point of annoying my roommate with my repeated listenings!) and am glad to see them still working.
Listen to the cover after the break.

Music Monday: Get Em High by Kanye West
In honor of our big Kanye West bracket last week, today's Music Monday is the surprise victor: Get Em High! Check it out, give it a listen - do you agree that it's his best track? Share your thoughts in the comments or on Facebook.

Music Monday: Mind Your Manners by Chiddy Bang
Last week I saw Chiddy Bang and Lupe Fiasco at the Hollywood Palladium and I was really impressed with their show! I had seen Lupe Fiasco a couple times before, but this was his best performance yet. I wasn't too familiar with Chiddy Bang, but realized I had heard a couple of his tracks before. While you may know "Opposite of Adults", I really loved "Mind Your Manners." Watch the video below and check out my full show review on The Audio Perv.

Music Monday: Hey Yeah by OutKast
Last week, VH1 had one of their great retrospectives - the Top 100 Songs of the 00s. My fiance and I love these types of shows and have watched all the I Love The 70s, 80s, and 90s as well as a ton of their other countdowns, so when this was announced we both picked what song we thought would be the tops. He picked "Yeah" by Usher, while I went with "Hey Yeah" by Outkast.
"Hey Yeah" is just such a fun, upbeat track that sticks in your head all day! Well, we watched the countdown and "Yeah" ended up being #27. Where did "Hey Yeah" fall?

Music Monday: A Real Hero by College featuring Electric Youth (from the DRIVE soundtrack)
Last night I finally got around to seeing the new Ryan Gosling, Nicolas Refn flick DRIVE. This movie has been super hyped since it hit the festival circuit, and then really impressed at their San Diego Comic-Con panel with FilmDistrict.
While I enjoyed the movie, it definitely suffered a bit from all the endless praise it's been getting. With the bar set so high, it's hard for any film to reach that level. I do definitely recommend it, as it is a film that needs to be seen, but don't let the praise get ahead of you.
I won't go too much into the film here (maybe I'll get around to reviewing it here later), but you do need to hear the main song from the film. It's a fantastic soundtrack that's so unique and just fits with the film so well.
Listen to A Real Hero by College after the break and if you saw DRIVE, let me know what you thought of it in the comments.

Music Monday: I Know That Dream by Icewater
A few of my USC friends made this great music video for the relatively unknown band Icewater. They're based out in Brooklyn, and if you like what you hear below, you can download their album for free from their bandcamp website.
Enjoy the video!

Music Monday: Arms by Christina Perri
I first heard about Cristina Perri because of So You Think You Can Dance. Her heartbreaking and soulful Jar of Hearts was used in Season 7 when Billy and All Star Kathryn did a beautifully danced Stacey Tookey routine. After that number, that song immediately made it on to my So You Think You Can Dance Playlist for that season and then I never heard anything from her again. This summer, she released a new single and it's just now starting to get more radio play and I am hooked! Her voice is beautiful and she's proving herself to be a talented songwriter. I hope she keeps it up! Watch the official video for Arms after the break.

Music Monday: Don't Stop Me Now by Queen
In honor of Freddie Mercury's birthday today, here's one of my favorite tracks by Queen, Don't Stop Me Now. If you aren't a Queen fan, you might recognize this from SHAUN OF THE DEAD. One of my favorite scenes was when they were in the Winchester, barracaded against the coming hordes of zombies, and they start beating them up to the beat of the song on the juke box - Don't Stop Me Now! Seriously, one of the best musical moments in a nonmusical.
Hope you all had a great holiday weekend!

Music Monday: Dedication to My Ex by Lloyd
I am loving this resurgence in motown and that older style of music in today's new hits. What started with Cee-Lo Green, Bruno Mars, and Janelle Monae is now expanding and Lloyd seems to have come out of nowhere with his fast climbing track, Dedication to My Ex. Check out the track after the break. Be warned, it's a lyric video with some pretty explicit lyrics, so maybe save this one for just headphones or after you leave the office. But anyways, enjoy!

Music Monday: Keep Your Head Up by Andy Grammer
If you're ever having a bad day or feeling downbeat, this song will totally help you through. It's an entire song about optimism, how could I not love it? Plus the music video has a funny little cameo from Rainn Wilson (aka Dwight Shrute). Check it out after the break!

Music Monday: No One Believes Me by Kid Cudi (for the FRIGHT NIGHT soundtrack)
FRIGHT NIGHT opens this Friday and if you're in to truly villainous vampires instead of the soft, romantic ones from TWILIGHT, this flick is right up your alley. For the film's soundtrack, Kid Cudi cut this moody track and filmed a great companion video to the film. Check out the video after the break and stay tuned for my film review for GeekTyrant!

Music Monday: I Follow Rivers by Lykke Li
Last week I saw Lykke Li at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles and she put on a fantastic show! She's a little woman with a big voice and such energy comes through her performances even though her songs aren't always the most upbeat. You can read my full concert review on The Audio Perv and check out some concert photos too, but if you just want to hear my favorite song from her at the moment, watch the video for "I Follow Rivers" below.

Music Monday: King of Diamonds by Motopony
Last week I had the chance to chat with the lead singer of Motopony, a new indie band hailing from Tacoma, Washington. I also saw them at The Echo and they put on a great show. Even though they were the opening band, they were the best act of the night. Haven't heard of them before? Check out their song King of Diamonds after the break!

Music Monday: (Today I Met) The Boy I'm Going to Marry by Darlene Young
So this weekend I tried on wedding dresses!! In honor of all the wedding stuff going on, I figured it'd be a good time for this golden oldie by Darlene Young. I remember listening to this on K-Earth 101 as a kid and it would get stuck in my head for days. It was also perfectly used in FATHER OF THE BRIDE, a movie I have to watch if it comes on TV.
Catch the song after the break!

Music Monday: Super Bass by Nicki Minaj
While VH1 is trying to mathmatically figure out the definitive Song of Summer 2011, I've already decided that this is my personal summer jam. I'm loving Nicki Minaj and Super Bass is just so fun and catchy.
