The Return of the (good) X-Men?

Rumors are flying that Bryan Singer could be in to direct a 4th X-Men movie. This wouldn't be another spin-off like Wolverine or Magneato, this would feature the whole gang kicking butt and taking names as a crew. Not much has been said, so there aren't any details about it, but just the fact that Bryan Singer could come back to the franchise is enough to make me happy! The first two X-Men movies are among my favorites in the genre. X2 just may be my favorite of them all! Also, with X-Men 3 and Superman Returns both being critical duds, I'm hoping that this will be a return to form for the franchise and Singer. Hopefully things move forward and we see this develop into more than just talk soon!

  1. I love Xmen. Probably one of my favorite comics. I was so disappointed with Xmen3. I'm hoping that if they do do another Xmen movie, it'll follow the story line a lot better.

  2. YES! This is great news!! Too bad Singer won't be able to do the version of X3 that he set up (remember that awesome teaser at the end of X2?)...but this is probably the next best thing. Get the gang back together (and, haha, maybe incorporate Gambit somehow) and this could end the main series on the high note it deserves.

Btw, if you haven't already seen this, IMDB has some really cool trivia about what Singer's original plan for X3 was:

  3. Ok, just check out that link and this:

When Bryan Singer was still set to direct, he intended the Dark Phoenix storyline as the sole focus of the film. He also intended to feature the villain Emma Frost/White Queen as a major character, with the role intended for Sigourney Weaver. With Singer's departure, the character of Emma Frost was dropped, and the Dark Phoenix story was relegated to a subplot in favor of the "cure" storyline. He also planned on introducing long time fan favorite Gambit into the film, to serve as both the new recruit as well as a romantic rival of Iceman's for Rogue's affection. For the part, Singer had planned on casting Channing Tatum. However, once he left, the script was changed, and Gambit was reduced to a minor cameo, then ultimately dropped from the script.

SOUNDS AMAZING!! I hope he can incorporate some of these elements into the 4th film. And I really hope Gambit will be in it. He was one of my favorites from the cartoon.
