Music Monday: You Sleep Alone by HelloGoodbye
Hellogoodbye has been one of my favorite bands since high school. When they blew up with "(Here) in your Arms" in 2007, it was awesome to hear them on the radio! I've seen them go from playing small shows at The Cobalt Cafe in Canoga Park to sharing the stage at The Wiltern.
Their new CD, Would It Kill You?, is set to drop November 9. You can pre-order it along with special schwag at the official Hellogoodbye website or from Amazon by clicking the image below.

SNL Highlights: Jon Hamm
There's a reason this is Jon Hamm's third time hosting in just two seasons. He's hilarious and isn't afraid to look ridiculous to get the laugh. I still love the digital short, Sergio, from his last stint, and he was greased up, covered in oil, and sporting a permed mullet for it! There were so many hilarious sketches this week, so sorry for the video overload.
Shy Ronnie
I loved this sketch the last time Rihanna performed, and am so glad they brought it back. Having Ronnie in the skirt with the tiny gun totally fit with his personality and got the laugh. I loved when Ronnie went off as soon as "Clyde" stepped out; he had some sick rhymes! It's just too bad he can't speak in her presence, so she'll never know.
I Didn't Ask For This
This was my favorite sketch from the night! The " Autotuned Best Cry Ever" would totally be my ringtone.
Back to the Future Screen Tests
25 years ago, a film classic came into existence. But it took a lot of casting calls and auditions to find the perfect cast. These impressions are pretty spot on, especially Alan Alda, Robin Williams, and Eddie Murphy. Jay Pharoah is a comedy beast!

Netflix Watch Instant: The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus
The film follows Dr. Parnassus, his daughter, and his assistant as they travel around trying to let people into their imagination, to see all that is possible. When a deal with the devil comes due, the immortal Doctor Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) must renegotiate the pact to save his daughter. Now, with the help of his mystical theater troupe and a mysterious stranger (Heath Ledger/Colin Ferrel/Johnny Depp/Jude Law), Parnassus attempts to right the wrongs of his past.
Another interesting thing to note is that Gilliam was very selective on who would step into Ledger's shoes. He wanted to keep it to Ledger's personal friends, so it would serve as an homage of sorts. The three men also gave their payment from this role to Matilda, Heath Ledger and Michelle Williams' daughter, so her financial future would be secure.

All these lead to a different viewing of the film than if it were viewed in a vacuum, if you had no knowledge of the Heath Ledger tragedy.
Also of note, Andrew Garfield plays the eager young assistant. This was the first I'd seen him, but he's since blown up with roles in The Social Network, Never Let Me Go, and will be the new Spider-Man. I enjoyed him in this role, but never thought he'd become so well known so quickly!
The film itself is a unique viewing experience. With the dreamscapes in the Imaginarium, I'm simultaneously in love with it while wishing it had a bigger budget to make them even more fantastical. There were no limits on what they could look like, no limits on what they could do in there. If you can, try to stream this to your television through a game console or an HDMI cable hookup. It definitely needs more than a small laptop screen to be fully enjoyed.

Tangled: Zachary Levi and Mandy Moore sing "I See the Light"
Disney's next princess tale, Tangled, is coming out this Thanksgiving. Their spin on the old tale of Rapunzel, it follows Mandy Moore's princess as a dashing young fugitive, Flynn Rider, swoops into her tower and gets her caught up in his misadventures. While it is a princess film, it seems to have a much bigger focus on Flynn than their usual fairytale films.
The first song has just been released for sneak listening, and I'm swooning over Zachary Levi's voice. In his day job he's known as Chuck Bartowski aka Charles Carmichael aka The Intersect, but he also previously sang with Katherine McPhee. That was the first of his singing career, but now he'll be on the Tangled soundtrack. I'm not sure how many songs will be in the film, it's not being marketed as an animated musical like the previous Disney princess film, The Princess and the Frog.
Listen to the track below and let me know what you think in the comments!
