I belive this problem stems back to the problems behind the scenes. If there were more women involved in every step of this process, then we would see a shift. Until that happens though, I think we're store for more of the same.
Until women become the largest movie going audience don't expect this to change. Sure it probably started as a sexist society problem, but, come on, its just good business! More guys see movies, so movies are made for guys. The film industry is just a business maximizing its profits, you can't blame anyone for wanting to do that! And I'm pretty positive you could spend the entirety of the rest of your movie watching life just watching movies from the enormous list of movies that DO pass this test. So quit your whining!
It's only because there's no good female driven product out there that men are the biggest movie going population. Twilight and Sex and the City make huge money, and that's with pretty mediocre films. Imagine what good movies could make! And with more and more male viewers being lost to video games, it's only a matter of time before the business wises up to the untapped potential of the female market.
